August Decker, trained as a master miller, leased a mill complete with farming and sawmill operations, setting the rhythm for Decker’s venture into the world of wood.
The mill was decommissioned and the focus shifted solely to the sawmill.
Moving to Haimpfarrich’s Outskirts: In tune with his dreams, August Decker built his own sawmill and residence at the edge of Haimpfarrich, near Roth.
Laying the Foundation: With the purchase of a planing machine, August began producing profile boards from local spruce, larch, and douglas fir. This pivotal step laid the groundwork for today’s wall and ceiling production and led to the construction of a new hall.
From Sawing to Trading: The sawmill was decommissioned, but in its place, a flourishing timber trade emerged, bridging nature and living.
A New Era with Holzwerk A. Decker GmbH & Co. KG: As the company evolved, Klaus Decker stepped in as the director, orchestrating a new phase of growth.
Building Expansions: A grand 2500 m² hall was constructed, marking a significant crescendo in the company’s expansion.
Passing the Baton: Klaus Decker took the reins, ensuring the company’s legacy continued even after August Decker’s passing.
Resilience in Adversity: A tragic fire in January engulfed the planing hall and all its machinery. It was rebuilt in just three months, even under the freezing temperature of minus 15 degrees.
Spring Growth: Spring 1991 saw the construction of another storage hall, covering 2000 m², harmonizing space and function.
Craftsmanship & Innovation: A carpentry shop was established, introducing surface treatments for profile boards. Embracing the past while advancing with technology, our wall and ceiling profile boards are now brushed and naturally wax-stained.
Klaus Decker welcomed his son, Jochen, into the company, with Jochen ambitiously spearheading Holzmanufaktur Decker’s move into luxury flooring solutions.
Eco-Friendly Heating: With the construction of a silo and woodchip heating system, we embraced complete sustainable heating, using self-produced wood chips and sawdust during winters.
Stepping into Luxury: Our project, “One Hyde Park”, marked Decker’s grand entrance into the world of luxury parquet, synchronizing elegance and quality.
Legacy Continues: Transitioning to the fourth generation, Eirik Decker gracefully took over the operations from Klaus Decker on January 1st, 2021. He vowed to lead the symphony of tradition, quality, and innovation into the future.
Like a tree’s unyielding bond to the earth, as we soar to new heights, we remain deeply anchored to our origins. Every growth ring tells a tale of years gone by, every branch reaches out to future possibilities.
